Bad News, For Me Atleast.

So my sister-in-law just called to inform me that she heard that The Hobblecreek Half registration is now closed.

Crappy.

Mel and Jen, I know are already registered. Did anyone else get signed up in time?

I was unsure if I was going to make it due to my knee, but now I'm really bummed.

Let me know if you know anything.

An uphill battle...

I truly have started to enjoy running again. It's something that Isaac and I look forward to everyday. I was starting to feel like I was in pretty good shape...until this morning. I went on a 5 mile run, with the first 2.5 miles being uphill. It kicked my butt! If you were to tell me that the 1/2 marathon was uphill the whole way, I would drop out right now. The good news is we will drop 1582 ft in elevation throughout the race. The bad news is that I've been told that mile 6-10 has some pretty good uphill also. Any tips for running uphill? (Besides telling Isaac he has to get himself up the hill, and I'm not pushing him.) Anyway, good luck to all...Happy running!

Its Getting Better!

Was that Jen that made that last post? My Ipod is my running mate as well. I have gone occasionally with somone else-but I am always worried that they are in better shape than I am and will be regretting they came with me. The run on the Porter Rockwell Trail was a lot of fun-good to talk and catch up on things. I like running with my stroller a lot more than I thought I would. Now if someone could drag my butt out of bed in the morning-then I would be set. It really is getting easier though as I go more and more. Thank goodness!

Running Buddy

I have found that the best running tool is a running buddy.
I have used my i-pod as a running buddy in the past but my sister Whitney has started to run with me and it has been quite fabulous. I find that having someone to talk to takes my mind off of the running/long distance. For any of you who don't have a running buddy I recommend finding one. How did the run go on the Porter Rockwell Trail? I wish I could have been there to run along with you guys. It sounds like everyone is working hard and doing well. I am very proud of all of us.

Happy Mother's Day!!

We will indeed be holding a group run next week in Draper. C. Ware and I are both available W&Th morning. I was thinking somewhere from 2-3 miles. We can run on the Porter Rockwell Trail, and there's another trail in Draper I have grown to love. The second trail is not named nor marked, so E-Dawg if you could bring your "distance tracker thing" that would be much appreciated. What time works for everyone? Around 8am works best for me, but I've been known to be flexible. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend, and most of all...HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU ALL!!!

Troubling Knees.

My knees have really been aching when I run and for a few hours to a day after a long run. It's really quite discouraging. I am going to only do about one long run a week and take it easier on the rest of the days.

Any hints for troubled knees?

Mel and I are going to run together next week one or maybe two mornings. If anyone is up for it, come along. Porter Rockwell Trail, right Mel?

Beautiful Day!!!

Yesterday, I had to wait until 6pm to go running because of the freezing temperatures and thunder showers. However, there has been a dawning of a new day and it's warm! I felt like I was over dressed in my long sleeves and shorts on my run this morning!

Kristi, welcome! I am excited you're going to run Hobblecreek. 4 miles, well done! I am supposed to run 4 miles this week and I'm a little nervous. I am going to have to really pump myself up!

I'm so glad you signed up Jen. You are a very determined girl, I know that you can reach this goal.

We really are going to have a party the morning of Aug. 23. Until then, good luck with your running and let me know if anyone needs a running partner that will make them look good.

PS Lau, do you run on 13th East? I think I saw you one day trucking down the road.

Oh Crap...

So here's the deal. When I first got Mel's email I was enthusiastically planning on supporting this idea to try a half marathon. For those of you that may or may not know this about me I really have not had very good success running. It's hard for me to get motivated to do it and really easy for me to convince myself that it's hard on my knees, ankles, etc. and so I probably just shouldn't do it. Plus Kylan and I would really like to have our kids about 2 1/2 years apart so that means getting pregnant in the next month or so and I don't know if I should be runnign while I'm pregnant...

As you can see I'm really good at convincing myself that I just shouldn't bother and that I'll just cheer you all on.

But then I start to feel like I'm letting you all down (even if you don't feel that way) and that I'll really regret not at least going for it. Then I know in my head that it's so good to have a goal that you're reaching for and I think, maybe I'll give it a shot...

Well I just registered for the race.

Oh crap.

I haven't even put on my running shoes in who knows how long and some of you are already doing 5 miles?!?!?

I guess I'll check out the site that Laura recommended and give it a shot.

Help!

Nike Plus?

I hope no one minds, Chelsea invited me to join in on the "fun" of running the half marathon. I am very grateful because I am finally getting motivated to start running again. Today I did my personal best since having my daughter, Marina. Four miles. I have a long way to go.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has a Nike+ Ipod? I am new to mine and I know you can create training programs and then share them, but it is not going well for me. Does anyone have a program already set up that they can share? Thanks,

Kristi

Happy Snow Day...

I am the biggest advocate for snow that I have ever met. And, today is the first day the snow has frustrated me. It is May 1st, and I have been trying all day to go out running. I have gotten dressed twice now, only to see a blizzard outside of my window. I haven't had the heart to take Isaac outside in the snow during the month of May (although doing it in March and April didn't seem to be a problem). Alright, so now for the point of this post:
**DON"T FORGET TO REGISTER IF YOU PLAN ON RUNNING HOBBLE CREEK!!**
Registration started today at-- http://srcevents.com/hobblecreek/
**Also, I think all of you who have a blog should put this blog on your list of friends or links to go to. That way we can all come to this site and communicate.

Thanks! Mel
